The weather was beautiful, the course was in superb condition and a large number of members and visitors turned out for Lady Captain Mary Murphy's big day. There was a great buzz around the club all day and the smell of the barbecue drifted across the course.
The Mens Competiton was held over 27 holes with the top twenty after the first 18 qualifying.
The leader with a nett 61 was Kieran Simpson closely followed by Niall McEvoy, Neill O'Rourke and Seamus McNulty. However, Kieran was not able to hold his lead over the third nine and it was young Neill O'Rourke who came through to claim his first major.
Seamus McNulty took second with Kieran Simpson third.
Eugene Byrne took the gross. The Ladies Prize went to Cecelia Sherry with Kay Carragher second.
There was a great night's craic at the presentation and Mary was full of praise for the Management, committees, family and sponsor, Quaypoint of Newry for making her day such a success.
